World Cup 2011
                            The international equestrian event – World Cup in Show Jumping, which took place 25., 26. and 27.  of November in Equestrian Centre Celje, ended with quite a few specialities and records. 
In the opening ceremony, which was accompanied by a performance of Lipizzaner horses and a presentation of dressage riding, a presentation of western riding, a performance of majorettes from Laško, a presentation of obstacle cone driving and the horse police from Maribor, we could hear terrific opening speeches which were held by Mr Hugo Bosio, president of the Organising Committee and owner of the centre, Mr Bojan Šrot, mayor of the city Celje and member of the Honorary Committee, dr Janez Kocjančič, president of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia and president of the Honorary Committee and Mr Bogomir Vnučec, the president of Equesatrian Federation of Slovenia and member of the Honorary Committee.
The riders competed in five different categories with their horses over three days. The main event, the World Cup competition, was won by Nagel Bjorn from Ukraine with Quickdiamond. The second place went to Pinazzi Chiara with Caschmir from Italy and third to Gutkauskas Benas with Lascar 41 from Lithuania.
The best among the Slovenian riders was Mirjam Vesenjak with Unique, who was placed eighth in the World Cup competition. It has to be mentioned that Mirjam Vesenjak was already placed with an excellent sixth place in the previous World Cup competition 2010.
Equestrian Centre Celje proved to be an excellent organiser, who managed to attract besides numerous competitors and horses, there were approximately 300 horses from 20 countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Belorussia, Greece, Croatia, Hong Kong, Italy, Israel, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Hungary, Monaco, Germany, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland and Ukraine) with 170 riders, also numerous visitors, not only from Celje but also from whole of Slovenia and abroad.
It has to be said that the World Cup in Show Jumping was organised only for the second time in the history of Slovenia and in an inside arena, which enables the organisation of the biggest equestrian events with its quality, modern infrastructure and equipment.
Considering the excellent participation of competitors and cooperating countries, the numerous visitors, who have filled the grandstand on daily basis, the excellent grade from the delegates of the FEI, the International Equestrian Federation, and the good support of sponsors, we will be able to follow many international and national equestrian competitions in Equestrain Centre Celje also in 2012.
