Green Key

Green Key

Green Key is an international eco-labelling scheme for tourist accommodation and other tourism facilities, a certification scheme that encourages sustainable tourism development and promotes environmentally responsible behaviour in the tourism industry.

The aim of the programme is to reduce the negative impact of tourism on the environment and to raise awareness among guests and tourism facilities about the importance of protecting natural resources.

Establishments that have been awarded the Green Key label meet certain environmental criteria and are committed to continuous improvement in sustainability and environmental management.

This prestigious environmental label signifies the commitment of businesses to adhere to the strict criteria set by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in certified establishments. The Green Key environmental/sustainability label ensures that all guests are making a direct contribution to protecting the environment by choosing a certified tourist establishment. Establishments holding the label maintain high environmental standards, which they demonstrate through strict documentation and frequent inspections.

The Green Key programme places a strong emphasis on informing and involving visitors in the sustainable and greening measures implemented by establishments. It ensures that staff at the sites are well informed and adequately trained in environmentally friendly and sustainable practices, continuously looking for new - sustainable - ways of doing business and using technology, with the aim of reducing environmental impact and operating costs by reducing resource consumption and waste. As guests become more and more aware of environmental issues, positive environmental credentials are becoming increasingly important when choosing a suitable establishment for their leisure time or for a business gathering. The Green Key symbolises a commitment to the environment and sustainable development that is highly attractive to potential guests. Obtaining the Green Key Ecolabel is also an additional means of promotion for the establishment, as it communicates to potential guests that it meets strict environmental criteria and is actively, holistically and systematically improving its sustainability performance.
The accommodation criteria against which the establishment has been assessed and certified cover 13 areas, namely:

(1) ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT,

(2) STAFF INVOLVEMENT,

(3) GUEST INFORMATION,

(4) WATER,

(5) WASHING AND CLEANING,

(6) WASTE,

(7) ENERGY,

(8) FOOD AND DRINK,

(9) INDOOR ENVIRONMENT,

(10) GREEN AREAS,

(11) CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY,

(12) NATURAL ACTIVITIES and

(13) ADMINISTRATION.

How we contribute to preserving the Earth at our restaurant

The establishment has a designated Environmental Manager who plays a key role in bringing together management, employees, suppliers and national and international Green Key representatives on all issues related to the environment and sustainability.
Staff are trained to advise guests on the use of sustainable transport options such as KolesCE and public transport, provide assistance with timetables and directions to the station.

We work with local and organic suppliers to provide quality and tasty meals made with locally sourced ingredients. By working with local suppliers, we promote sustainable agriculture and support the local economy, while providing tasty and healthy food for our guests. We source a variety of products from the local area, including meats, cured meats, fresh eggs, breads and other bakery products, fresh vegetables, seasonal herbs, cooking oil, sauerkraut and turnips, and a variety of cheeses. We also offer vegetable and vegan dishes.

We source packaging carefully and thoughtfully and encourage guests to use their own food containers.

We have replaced most of our lighting with more energy-saving LEDs and installed an automatic switch-on and switch-off system for external lights, reducing light pollution.

Water is managed prudently and any leaks and unwanted run-off are checked regularly.

Our steps are small, but every effort to preserve nature is important. We therefore invite you to join us to the best of your ability. We are aware that we are part of a community and that we have a shared responsibility towards the environment.

If we all do our bit to take care of our precious natural resources and minimise the impact on the environment, we will be able to enjoy the wonders of nature for a long time to come.

We look forward to your visit and invite you to contribute together to sustainable tourism.
